rfxcel, Part of Antares Vision Group, and MVC Sign Agreement with Lebanese Republic to Deploy End-to-End Pharmaceutical Traceability Hub

The agreement continues the partners’ success in the Middle East, where they recently launched the first GS1-compliant Traceability Hub in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Reno, Nevada, Sept. 22, 2021 (EINPRESSWIRE). rfxcel, part of Antares Vision Group and a global leader in digital supply chain traceability solutions, today announced that it signed a five-year cooperative agreement with the Lebanese Republic’s Ministry of Public Health to provide a GS1-compliant Traceability Hub to secure the country’s entire pharmaceutical supply chain. The company will implement the system with its partner Medical Value Chain (MVC), the Bahrain subsidiary of U.S.-based AVC Global.

The announcement comes only a few months after rfxcel and MVC were selected by Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority and Supreme Council of Health to provide the first GS1-compliant system to track the Kingdom’s entire pharmaceutical supply chain on a blockchain platform.

The Lebanon Traceability Hub will deliver end-to-end visibility into every aspect of the country’s pharmaceutical supply chain, from the manufacturer of origin, importers, wholesalers, and distributors to pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals — all the way to individual patients. It will integrate with the Ministry of Public Health’s MediTrack system for domestic manufacturers.

The Hub is designed to achieve the following:

  • Lower the cost of pharmaceuticals
  • Provide patients with only authentic, safe medications
  • Combat drug counterfeiting and smuggling
  • Ensure access to pharmaceuticals subsidized by the Banque du Liban, the central bank of Lebanon
  • Prevent hoarding of medicines

“The Hub is all about leveraging leading-edge technology to secure Lebanon’s pharmaceutical supply chain and safeguard patients and consumers,” rfxcel CEO Glenn Abood said. “Security and safety — these are the very reasons I founded rfxcel almost 20 years ago. We’re eager to begin our work with MVC in Lebanon, and we’ll continue to focus on bringing Traceability Hubs to other countries in the Middle East and beyond.”

MVC Co-Founder and President Leo Giacometto said, “The MVC technology platform with blockchain revolutionizes the delivery and integrity of pharmaceutical supply chains in Lebanon. We are excited and honored to deploy our platform in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health in the Republic of Lebanon.”

Emidio Zorzella, Antares Vision Group CEO, said, “We’re all eager to start working with the Ministry of Public Health and gratified that everything has come together so well. When we unveiled the Bahrain Traceability Hub in June, I said we’d be announcing national hubs in other countries. Here we are today, continuing our vision of protecting products and people, and making supply chains safer and more efficient.”

rfxcel, Part of Antares Vision Group, and MVC Launch the Traceability Hub for the Kingdom of Bahrain to Track End-to-End Pharma Supply Chain

Travagliato (Brescia), June 3, 2021 (MarketScreener). Antares Vision Group, the international leader in the pharmaceutical sector for track and trace hardware and software solutions (anti-counterfeiting and supply chain transparency), with an established presence in inspection systems (quality control), and active in smart data management (production efficiency and end-to-end supply chain digitalization, from raw materials to the final consumer), announced today that its subsidiary rfxcel has successfully implemented an end-to-end Traceability Hub to monitor and secure the Kingdom of Bahrain’s global pharmaceutical supply chain process. The initial value of this contract is approximately 4-6 percent of Antares Vision FY 2020 pro-forma revenues.

Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) and Supreme Council of Health selected Medical Value Chain (MVC) and its partner rfxcel to provide the first GS1-compliant system to track its entire pharmaceutical supply chain on a blockchain platform. The end-to-end Traceability Hub delivers complete visibility into every node of the Kingdom’s supply chain, from the manufacturer of origin, importers, wholesalers, and distributors to pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals — all the way to individual patients.

The objective of the NHRA Bahrain Traceability Hub is to achieve following:

  • End-to-end traceability for all medicine imports to Bahrain
  • Bahrain pharma supply chain to meet the global track and trace requirements and GS1 standards
  • Complete visibility and repository of medicine inventory and supply-chain info from manufacturers to agents/importers to wholesalers/distributors to pharmacies/hospitals and to patients/consumers
  • Increase patient safety
  • Detect and stop counterfeit medicines
  • Analytics of medicine imports and consumption in Bahrain
  • Manage product recalls and shortages efficiently and quickly

Glenn Abood, rfxcel CEO, said, “The end-to-end Traceability Hub offers an array of other benefits for all pharmaceutical supply chain stakeholders. The Hub is the first of its kind in the Gulf Cooperation Council. It creates a single source of truth for all medications, which means improved patient safety, better flow of information, and more accurate inventory management. It is also a powerful tool to prevent counterfeit and substandard drugs from reaching the market.”

Emidio Zorzella, Antares Vision Group CEO, said, “I am honored that the Kingdom of Bahrain chose Antares Vision Group in partnership with MVC to secure and optimize its pharma supply chain. In the near future, we expect to announce national traceability hubs in other countries to track pharmaceutical, agricultural, and consumer products.”

MVC President Leo Giacometto said, “When we set up our company to provide a blockchain-enabled track and trace platform to provide customs clearances and supply chain financing, we needed the absolute best track and trace solution and most experienced team in the market; that is rfxcel, now part of Antares Vision Group!”

rfxcel to Integrate Spherity Credentialing Service into Its VRS Solution for DSCSA Authorized Trading Partner Compliance

Beginning in June, rfxcel customers can use the service to confirm their authorized trading partner status in saleable return verifications.

Reno, Nevada, June 3, 2021 (EINPRSSWIRE). rfxcel, part of Antares Vision Group and a global leader in digital supply chain traceability solutions, today announced it would integrate the Spherity Credentialing Service into its Verification Router Service (VRS) solution, enabling companies to verify their authorized trading partner (ATP) status per requirements in the U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).

rfxcel customers can begin using the service in June. As mandated by the DSCSA, only ATPs will be permitted to exchange information in the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain starting on November 27, 2023.

The Spherity Credentialing Service uses blockchain technology to establish a secure, verifiable digital enterprise identity for every ATP. By integrating the service into its VRS solution, rfxcel customers can ensure secure, authenticated data exchange with other ATPs and verify they have the credentials required by the DSCSA, including state licenses and U.S. Food and Drug Administration Entity Identifiers (FEIs).

Herb Wong, vice president of marketing and strategic initiatives at rfxcel, said the partnership builds on the relationship built with Spherity in the Open Credentialing Initiative (OCI), a user group comprising industry stakeholders working on rolling out, standardizing, and exploring credential-based implementations in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

“rfxcel is excited to partner with Spherity to ensure the integrity of both the physical and digital supply chain,” he said. “The Spherity Credentialing Service is the most comprehensive effort to address the upcoming ATP requirement for DSCSA and is a good match with our industry-leading VRS solution. Spherity’s leadership in the OCI was impressive, and rfxcel looks forward to offering our customers these complementary solutions this summer.”

Spherity CEO Dr. Carsten Stöcker said, “rfxcel, as an innovation pioneer in the industry, and Spherity have been a good fit from the very beginning, since the start of the collaboration. We are now very proud that rfxcel is offering our new Spherity Credentialing Service to their customers and look forward to delivering further integrations to establish trust in supply chains.”

rfxcel Accredited as IT Company by Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media

Reno, Nevada, March 29, 2021 (EINPRESSWIRE).rfxcel, a global leader in digital supply chain traceability solutions, today announced it had received accreditation as an IT company from Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media. It is the latest in a string of official designations for the company, which last year earned official partner status with Russia’s Center for Research in Perspective Technologies (CRPT), which operates the country’s National Track and Trace Digital System (Chestny ZNAK).

rfxcel qualified for IT company accreditation as a developer and implementer of computer software and databases within Russia. Specifically, the company maintains its rfxcel Traceability System, an award-winning digital supply chain track and trace platform, and project databases for its customers, which include large, well-known pharmaceutical and consumer goods customers.

The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media develops and implements national policy and legal regulations in telecommunications; mass media; publishing, printing, and distribution of printed media; IT; and personal data processing and Internet governance. As an accredited IT company under Russian law, rfxcel qualifies for certain insurance and tax benefits and access to support and programs that fall under the Ministry’s purview, including participating in domestic IT industry activities and international cooperation initiatives.

rfxcel CEO Glenn Abood said the accreditation solidified the company’s status as the leader in Russian supply chain compliance. “Our team in Moscow has reached yet another milestone,” he said. “They’ve achieved so much through hard work and a single-minded dedication to fully understanding Russia’s regulatory landscape — no simple task — and making sure our clients are always compliant, always set up for success. I’m very proud of what they’ve accomplished with this accreditation and am excited to see what’s next for us in Russia.”

Last year, rfxcel earned official partner status in 10 of the 11 industries for which the CRPT has chosen partners: medications, footwear, tires, light industry, perfumes, dairy, bottled drinking water, bicycles, wheelchairs, and tobacco. To be named an official integration, software, and tested solution partner for medications, members of the Moscow team met with the CRPT to demonstrate the rfxcel Traceability System, answer technical questions, and share examples of compliance reports. After an internal evaluation, the CRPT notified rfxcel that it had validated its solution and designated the company as an official partner on its website.

Victoria Kozlova, general director of rfxcel’s Russian operations, added that the accreditation should be another indication to companies that rfxcel was “their best option for success in the Russian market, no matter their industry. Enforcement of labeling requirements for light industry products began in January. Regulations for dairy are due to go into effect in July, September, and December. Rules for bicycles are also set for September. Recently announced pilots for beer and food additives are slated to start next month. There’s always a lot going on in Russia, and our team is always prepared to help.”

rfxcel Adopts Open Credentialing Initiative (OCI) to meet DSCSA Authorized Trading Partner (ATP) requirements

Reno, Nevada, March 24, 2021 (EINPRESSWIRE). rfxcel, a global leader in digital supply chain traceability solutions, today announced that it would use the Open Credentialing Initiative (OCI) to help customers comply with the upcoming authorized trading partner (ATP) requirements of the U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).

By November 27, 2023, only ATPs will be permitted to exchange information in the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain. To test the OCI solution’s effectiveness in meeting this requirement, rfxcel joined the OCI ATP pilot, initiated and supported by key industry participants, including manufacturers, a wholesaler, and a dispenser.

In the pilot, rfxcel partnered with SAP to test the OCI solution, which was built using Spherity’s identity wallet and Legisym’s identity/license verification service. It is based on open, published standards that can be implemented by providers and avoid “vendor-lock” to ensure independence and interoperability.

“Although rfxcel continues to evaluate other ATP solutions, this is the most mature and comprehensive in the industry,” said rfxcel Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Initiatives Herb Wong. “rfxcel has been championing DSCSA initiatives for years, and we actively partner with others to ensure DSCSA readiness by 2023. We were impressed to see how seamlessly the OCI solution integrated with our own. Once we received the specs, it took us only one week to implement the solution and begin testing. The support we received from Spherity and Legisym was outstanding. By any measure, the pilot was a success, and rfxcel is excited to offer OCI to our customers.”

Georg Jürgens, Spherity’s manager of industry solutions, said digitalizing ATP verification enables use cases that go beyond DSCSA regulations. “That’s just the tip of the iceberg,” he said. “We envision that trading partners won’t have to manually verify their new business partners’ process and can leverage ATP credentials in other ways, such as order to cash or drop shipment processes. Plus, the provided enterprise identity wallets and credentials will change the way trading partners digitally interact with each other. Decentralized identifiers and verifiable credentials solutions have the potential to be used and adopted as well in other supply chain use cases.”

“When approached by the Healthcare Distribution Alliance, Legisym was thrilled to take part in the DSCSA ATP pilot and work alongside industry participants and industry service providers,” said Legisym President David Kessler. “Through collaboration, forward thinking, and innovation brought to the table by all involved, the pilot team designed a successful solution to answer all requirements and guidelines. As a regulatory compliance technology solution provider, Legisym’s focus and experience in both the highly regulated Controlled Substance Ordering System space and the complex nuisances and inconsistencies trading partners are met with when attempting to verify state-level licensing among different Boards of Pharmacy lead to a natural fit for us to engage in the role of a credential issuer.”

These are the first dairy products required to be serialized in Russia’s National Track and Trace Digital System, known as Chestny ZNAK. Companies were allowed to begin labeling these goods as early as January 20, but the regulations will not go into full effect until June.

Furthermore, dairy products with a shelf life of more than 40 days and fewer than 40 days are required to be serialized beginning September 1 and  December 1, respectively. The regulations apply to several product categories, including milk and cream, buttermilk and fermented milk products, and dairy products for baby food.

rfxcel CEO Glenn Abood said the company had been preparing for the dairy regulations since an industry pilot was announced in 2019. “The long and short of it is that we’re always prepared to help companies in any industry navigate Russia’s strict and complex regulations,” he said. “We committed ourselves to being the leader in Chestny ZNAK compliance when the system was created a little more than four years ago, and our team in Moscow has followed its rollout, the evolution of the regulations, and the pilots for different industries, including dairy. We knew what was coming, so we’re ready to go.”

The dairy pilot ran between July 2019 and the end of 2020. During that time rfxcel earned official partner status in 10 of the 11 industries for which the Center for Research in Perspective Technologies (CRPT), which operates Chestny ZNAK, had chosen partners. It also tripled the size of its Moscow-based team and continues to be one of only a few solutions providers with active implementations in Russia.

Abood said the CRPT designations and success of the Moscow team had solidified rfxcel’s status as the leader in Russian compliance. “We’ve taken our rfxcel Traceability System, which includes solutions for serialization and compliance, into Russia and enabled companies in the pharmaceutical and consumer goods spaces meet deadlines, adapt to changes, stay compliant, and keep their supply chains moving. It’s been quite exciting, actually, and we’re looking forward to helping dairy companies have the same kind of success.”

Enacted by Federal Law No. 425-FZ on December 29, 2017, Chestny ZNAK was designed to protect consumers by keeping fake and substandard products out of the market. As envisioned, by 2024 it will transform the Russian supply chain and affect virtually every industry, from pharmaceuticals to baby food.

rfxcel and Digimarc Partner to Innovate and Improve Digital Supply Chain Capabilities

Partnership expands solutions for track and trace, brand protection, consumer engagement, and sustainability

Reno, Nevada, and Beaverton, Ore., Feb. 2, 2021 (EINPRESSWIRE). rfxcel, the global leader in digital supply chain traceability solutions, and Digimarc Corporation (Nasdaq: DMRC), a provider of software and services for automatic identification, today announced a partnership to provide a robust digital supply chain solution for track and trace, brand protection, personalized consumer engagement, and sustainability.

The partnership will leverage the Digimarc Platform, featuring Digimarc Barcode, in support of rfxcel’s signature Traceability System (rTS) and Mobile Traceability app.

Digimarc Barcode is a proprietary method for imperceptibly enhancing packaging, labels, corrugate, and other materials with data that can be detected by devices such as phones, computers, barcode scanners, and high-speed inspection systems. Data is redundantly applied across an entire product package or label, for example, dramatically increasing scanning speed and success rates.

rTS is a digital supply chain visibility platform with discrete solutions for serialization, compliance, Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled monitoring, and raw materials and finished goods traceability. rfxcel’s Mobile Traceability app adds unique data capture features such as barcode scanning, geo-location, audio, and video, and extends the power of rTS to users at every node of the supply chain, from remote fields and warehouses to retail outlets.

“At the heart of it, our partnership with Digimarc is about innovating the digital supply chain,” said rfxcel CEO and Co-Founder Glenn Abood. “We live in a world of connected products and people; Digimarc Barcode and our rTS platform deliver the ‘one-two punch’ of truly optimized data capture, then using that data for real-time track and trace and to safeguard products, boost brand protection and awareness, and connect with consumers.”

rfxcel has integrated Digimarc’s data capture software into rTS and its Mobile Traceability app, enabling accurate, complete, and timely data to be delivered to supply chain decision-makers. Digimarc’s scanning software easily handles challenging scanning situations such as glare and reflection, motion blurring, low contrast, and poor camera alignment.

“We are excited to partner with rfxcel to help customers transform their business with automatic identification and detection,” said Digimarc Vice President Sales and Business Development Brian O’Sullivan. “rfxcel and Digimarc help consumer brands, industrial goods manufacturers, and similar companies protect their products from counterfeiters, streamline their supply chain operations, reach their sustainability goals, and reduce risk from product recalls.”

Working together, the companies’ technologies will improve data capture and product security, allowing users to build an indelible provenance for virtually any product in any location. The accuracy and flexibility of their solutions create a powerful system that yields better data and better insights, delivering on the promises of a digital supply chain, including:

  • Providing an imperceptible code for brand protection that is difficult to counterfeit
  • Delivering faster and more accurate scanning for track and trace, recall management, and other supply chain operations
  • Reducing waste and ink usage to help meet sustainability goals
  • Yielding personalized customer engagement

Ohio Department of Veterans Affairs to Utilize rfxcel’s Drug Supply Chain Security Act Compliance Software

Reston, Va., Dec. 15, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE). rfxcel, the global leader in supply chain track and trace solutions, has been selected by the Ohio Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to support their Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) compliance needs for dispensers. The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System Pharmacy Service will utilize rfxcel’s track and trace technology to comply with the regulations set into place by the Drug Quality and Security Act of 2013. Included in the act is the DSCSA, which requires dispensers of prescription medications, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, to meet certain requirements of tracking prescription medications through the pharmaceutical global supply chain.

Under the DSCSA, the Department of Veterans Affairs is required to track transaction history, information, and statements, and to validate its authorized trading partners’ licensure and authorization on an ongoing basis, including serialization and tracing of products to the individual unit level, and report any suspect products to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In selecting rfxcel’s DSCSA Compliance Software, the Department of Veterans Affairs is now able to meet these requirements through rfxcel’s automated software solution. The rfxcel DSCSA Compliance Software not only enables the VA to track medications throughout the entire supply chain, but also provides significant cost savings in redirecting soon-to-expire products to sites that will use them faster, as well as enabling patient recalls to be tracked down to the specific patient level in the inpatient wards and clinics. This allows for more precise distribution channels and ensures the delivery of the correct products to the correct areas to best meet the needs of veterans being served through the VA.

“rfxcel’s compliance software will enable the Department of Veterans Affairs to meet all DSCSA regulations as well as meet the critical global supply chain requirements of visibility, safety, security and confidence at every stage of the supply chain”, said Greg Moulthrop, Vice President, Worldwide Government Group, rfxcel. “Nowhere is the capability we are providing more important than in helping to serve the needs of our veterans and play a role in enabling the VA in Ohio to ensure they are delivering the right medication to the right person at the right time, and that the medication is exactly what it is meant to be and where it is meant to be.”

As a premier vendor providing Track & Trace Security solutions to governments for high value products across multiple complex industries and global supply chains, and specifically for products that impact public health and safety, rfxcel is committed to ensuring complete visibility, safety, security and confidence for its global government customers.

rfxcel Responds to Unprecedented Cold Chain Requirements and Logistics Challenges as COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Nears

Reno, Nevada, Dec. 2, 2020. rfxcel, the global leader in digital supply chain traceability solutions, continues to address cold chain and logistical challenges it anticipates will arise from the first widespread distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. The company has been preparing for a “vaccine surge” since the pandemic began to ensure it can respond to customer and industry needs when distribution begins to exert pressure on supply chains.

“The pandemic has revealed shortcomings in every supply chain, and we’ve seen increased competition for resources,” said rfxcel CEO and Co-Founder Glenn Abood. “We’ve worked with our global customers in pharma/life sciences, food and beverage, consumer goods, and government to keep their operations responsive and nimble. Now, we’re prepared to address additional stresses distribution of COVID-19 vaccines could create as the call for ‘all hands on deck’ commences and already scarce resources are redirected for the effort.”

rfxcel has provided traceability solutions since 2003. Its rfxcel Traceability System comprises discrete solutions that work in concert to harmonize, optimize, automate, and monitor supply chain operations, including serialization, compliance, environmental monitoring, raw materials traceability, and data analytics.

The company’s Integrated Monitoring (rIM) solution uses Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor the environmental condition of products in real time as they move through supply chains on land, sea, and air. rIM communicates with small IoT-enabled devices embedded with products and sends updates and alerts about more than a dozen environmental conditions, such as temperature, location, humidity, light, and shock. It can alert users about route diversions and ensure logistics providers remain in compliance with delivery agreements.

rfxcel has also developed Accurate Immunization Management (AIM), an automated, cloud-based solution that tracks the dispensing of vaccines. It seamlessly integrates with critical healthcare applications such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and Immunization Information Systems (IIS). It empowers healthcare practitioners to view patients’ immunization records in real time, manage accurate administering, monitor inventory, and safely dispense the right vaccines to the right patient at the right time. Because it is automated, users can be up and running with virtually no training, ensuring quick implementation in mission-critical locations.

“We want to provide foolproof traceability,” Abood said. “Today, it’s more important than ever to be able to question, examine, and control every part of the supply chain, which is what our rfxcel Traceability System platform provides with solutions such as rIM and AIM.”
