Spherity and Antares Vision Group further partnership to ensure life sciences customers will comply with upcoming DSCSA regulations

Antares Vision Group, through rfxcel technology, has integrated Spherity’s Credentialing Service into its DSCSA solutions to verify authorized trading partners’ identities and licensing in all regulated interactions.

Reno, Nevada, April 25, 2023 — Spherity, a German leading provider of digital wallet and credentialing solutions, and Antares Vision Group, an Italian multinational and a leading provider of track and trace and quality control systems, are continuing a partnership that helps ensure life sciences customers comply with this year’s U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) regulations.

By November 27, 2023, manufacturers, distributors, dispensers, and other actors in the life sciences supply chain must prove that they are legitimate organizations, or authorized trading partners (ATPs), as defined by the DSCSA.

The two companies first partnered in 2021, when Spherity’s Credentialing Solution, CARO, was integrated into the Group’s Verification Router Service (VRS) solution, enabled by rfxcel technologies, to allow life science customers to confirm their ATPs status. The combined solution also allows customers to exchange DSCSA-compliant electronic Product Identifier (PI) messages, trace products, and create an audit trail of their VRS business interactions.

CARO uses Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) technology to establish a secure, verifiable digital enterprise identity for every ATP. By integrating the service into its VRS solution, rfxcel customers can ensure secure, authenticated data exchange with other ATPs and verify they have the credentials required by the DSCSA, including state licenses and U.S. Food and Drug Administration Entity Identifiers (FEIs).

The project entails the digitalization of over 1.5 billion products, empowering the berry producer to protect, support, and communicate with its customers.

Powered by technology from rfxcel, which is part of Antares Vision Group, the Supply Chain Transparency solution package enables data concerning harvested berries to be collected and integrated into a platform that fully controls product safety and quality.

Using Antares Vision Group’s advanced serialization and mobile traceability technologies, the producer scans each individual clamshell to associate berry type, farm, and growing conditions, giving each package a unique digital identity with detailed product information. Consumers can scan an on-package QR Code to take a survey, giving the producer valuable insight into its customers’ impressions of specific berries grown at specific locations. This allows the company to focus on the types of berries consumers like best, and to ensure product quality is maintained at high standards from field to end user.

Vescovini SRL through its subsidiary company FT System.

Packital, based in Fidenza (PR), Italy, has since 1989 developed, designed, produced, and distributed inspection and quality control systems such as checkweighers, metal detectors, X-rays, and weight sorters. It specializes in wet and difficult environments, including those in which corrosive products are present. The company is certified as an Inspection Body for checkweighers.

The Center of Excellence is a dedicated group of solution providers that will work with the industry to accelerate the rollout of serialized data in advance of the November 27, 2023, DSCSA deadline.

Antares Vision Group, through rfxcel, today announced an EPCIS Center of Excellence (COE) to help pharmaceutical stakeholders prepare for upcoming serialization requirements in the U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA). rfxcel first introduced the COE at a Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) Quarterly Update on September 27.

DSCSA regulations will take effect on November 27, 2023, that require every supply chain partner to share unit-level product data electronically in a secure, interoperable manner. This data will include detailed transaction information and product identifiers, which include a unique serial number. At present, EPCIS — Electronic Product Code Information Services — is the most widely recognized international standard that will allow stakeholders to meet these requirements for transaction data connections.

rfxcel will coordinate with other recognized solution providers to develop processes to accelerate the rollout of EPCIS and ensure that serialized data is exchanged properly. rfxcel CEO Glenn Abood underlined that the COE is a group effort focused on the benefit all pharmaceutical supply chain participants.
